lung lobe. This ensures that the skin incision will not
directly overlie the deeper wound and helps to minimise
the possibility of pneumothorax. The cutting
stylet of the Tru-cut needle is then advanced to cut the
sample and the cover is advanced over the cutting
stylet to retain the biopsy sample. The Tru-cut needle
is then removed. The biopsy is placed in 10% formalsaline
and submitted for histopathology analysis.
Consideration should be given to prophylactic
antibiosis and tetanus antitoxin administration.
