Container Train Operators • In 2006 running of container trains was thrown open to private sector. • Prospective operators were required to register it themselves with IR and pay a licence fee. • There were two categories of Licence Fees. – 50 Crs. for operating between NCR and JNPT. – 10 Crs. for other sectors. • Licenses were granted to 14 Private Container Operators (PCOs) for running their own trains – by paying hauling charge to railways. • In 2007 another 2 operators took new licenses.
