VEHICLE AND EQUIPMENT PERMITTING<br />

PART 1 - GENERAL<br />

1.01 DESCRIPTION<br />

A. The Contractor shall comply with the Airport Security Program. Vehicle permits are required<br />

for all vehicles operating in the Restricted Area. Two types of permits are required. The <strong>DIA</strong><br />

vehicle permit is required for vehicles operating in the Restricted Area but limited to above<br />

grade, outdoor activity. Vehicles or machinery operating within buildings shall be required to<br />

acquire a <strong>DIA</strong> emissions permit as well as a <strong>DIA</strong> vehicle permit.<br />

B. Contractors performing work in or through Restricted Areas are required to become<br />

Participants in the Airport Security Program. Contractors shall comply with all <strong>Denver</strong><br />

Municipal Airport System Rules and Regulations.<br />

1. <strong>Denver</strong> Municipal Airport System Rules and Regulations Part 130 Movement of<br />

Vehicles in the Restricted Area and Part 20 Security shall be followed. These<br />

regulations are available through the flydenver.com website.<br />

2. All work shall be accomplished in accordance with FAA Advisory Circular AC150/5370-<br />

2F, "Operational Safety on Airports During Construction", 49 CFR Part 1542 and 14<br />

CFR Part 139, except as herein modified.<br />

3. The following paragraphs supplement, modify, change, delete from or add to FAA<br />

AC150/5370-2F. Where any paragraph, subparagraph or clause of the AC is modified<br />

or deleted by these supplements, the unaltered provisions of that paragraph,<br />

subparagraph or clause shall remain in effect.<br />

4. Special care shall be exercised by the Contractor when operating within clear zones,<br />

under approach and departure zones of runways and in the apron area. The clearance<br />

zones shall be considered as extending to a distance of 750 feet laterally from the<br />

centerline of runways and to a distance of 193 feet laterally from the centerline of<br />

taxiways. Where these zones overlap, the greater distance shall apply. Vertical<br />

clearance in the approach and departure zones shall be considered as starting at grade<br />

200 feet beyond the ends of runways and rising at the rate of 50 feet horizontal to one<br />

foot vertical.<br />

5. Access to the runways, taxiways and aprons shall be gained by the Contractor after<br />

establishing radio communications with Airport Operations. No personnel or equipment<br />

will be allowed on the runways until radio contact has been made with Airport<br />

Operations and permission given.<br />

6. Access to airport operations areas will be limited in order to allow the maximum efficient<br />

movement of aircraft. As part of this limitation the Contractor may be required to only<br />

use these areas late at night when there is less aircraft traffic.<br />

7. Once admitted into the Restricted Area, the Contractor shall proceed directly to the<br />

Work location by way of a route assigned by Airport Security. At no time shall a<br />

Contractor or any of its personnel enter onto a taxiway, runway or ramp without proper<br />

clearance from the Aviation Operations Manager or Assistant Aviation Operations<br />

Manager. Contractors or individuals violating these requirements for driving in the<br />

Restricted Area may be subject to fines, suspension or permanent revocation of the<br />
