The primary driver behind this ongoing effort is the enthusiasm of thousands of individuals who have donated countless hours of their personal time to projects and programs that make people’s lives better. Employees also have an ongoing interest in the environment and global climate change. While Cummins is a leader in developing new products to meet tough emission standards, I am equally impressed by the work people in our plants are doing to reduce energy usage and focus on the prudent use of our natural resources. Corporate responsibility and working toward a cleaner, healthier, safer environment are primary components of Cummins’ commitment to sustainability. We are also very serious about our obligations to the Company’s stakeholders, including shareholders, employees, customers and suppliers. We have had a number of achievements on their behalf since our last Sustainability Report. Highlights of our efforts include: • Our fourth straight year of record financial performance and a five-year average annual total shareholder return of 58 percent.
