• <strong>Cummins</strong> offers health care and other<br />
benefits to non-spousal domestic<br />
partners. In making these benefits<br />
available to employee life partners,<br />
<strong>Cummins</strong> recognizes that it must<br />
provide attractive and flexible programs<br />
to all employees.<br />
• <strong>Cummins</strong> has received a perfect score on<br />
the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate<br />
Equality Index every year since 2005.<br />
• <strong>Cummins</strong> has won the prestigious<br />
Australian Government Business<br />
Achievement Award for the advancement<br />
of women in the workplace. <strong>Cummins</strong> was<br />
also a finalist for the Outstanding Initiative/<br />
Result for the Advancement of Women,<br />
presented by Australian government’s<br />
Equal Opportunity for Women in the<br />

• <strong>Cummins</strong> Parts and Service is<br />
participating in a university program in<br />
which students intern locally and at our<br />
international remanufacturing locations.<br />
This program helps increase cultural<br />
awareness and diversity appreciation, and<br />
enables the next generation workforce<br />
to function effectively in our increasingly<br />
global enterprise.<br />
• <strong>Cummins</strong> India Foundation (CIF) and<br />
<strong>Cummins</strong> College of Engineering for<br />
Women (CCEW) recently launched<br />
a four-year Mechanical Engineering<br />
Division, which opened in August <strong>2007</strong><br />
with 60 students in Pune, India. CCEW<br />
was established in 1991 as the result<br />
of a significant contribution from CIF. It<br />
was the first college of engineering for<br />
women in India and is the first to offer a<br />
mechanical engineering major to aspiring<br />
women engineers.<br />
<strong>Cummins</strong>’ concept of diversity in the<br />
workplace has two parts. The first is<br />

creating a diverse workplace in terms of<br />
the representation of people from many<br />
different backgrounds. The second is<br />
creating an environment that manages<br />
people’s differences effectively and, in<br />
doing so, inspires innovative ideas and<br />
solutions. Making sure that everyone has<br />
a voice can lead to creative solutions that<br />
address real-time problems.<br />

Customer requirements: Purchasing<br />
materials and services from a diverse supply<br />
base puts <strong>Cummins</strong> in a position to take<br />
advantage of all opportunities to be the<br />
low-cost producer. <strong>Cummins</strong>’ customers<br />
demand we create economic opportunity for<br />
all parts of society, especially those underrepresented<br />
