<strong>The</strong>re are many <strong>elephant</strong> camps throughout Thail<strong>and</strong> where <strong>elephant</strong>s are bred <strong>in</strong> captivity <strong>and</strong> thus become<br />
eligible for legal export, or they might simply be used <strong>in</strong> the camps, hired out or sold to Thai amusement<br />
parks. Tipprasert (2002) documented 39 such camps with 1008 <strong>elephant</strong>s (Table 1).<br />
