The Faculty of Pharmacy, which was established as <strong>Hamdard</strong> College of Pharmacy<br />

in 1972, is one of the most prestigious institutions of Pharmacy education in India.<br />

A sizeable number of students of the faculty qualify GATE securing high score.<br />

Students get placements in major pharmaceutical companies after obtaining<br />

degrees from <strong>Jamia</strong> <strong>Hamdard</strong>. The faculty also offers a unique specialization in<br />

Unani Pharmacy at BPharm and DPharm level.<br />

Many faculty members have research projects funded by National / International<br />

funding agencies and Pharmaceutical Industries. The Central Instrumentation<br />

Facility (CIF) of the faculty is equipped with modern equipments needed for<br />

advanced pharmaceutical research like NMR spectrometer (400 MHz). The<br />

faculty has a Computer Centre having 40 PCs with Internet connectivity.<br />

The faculty consists of the following departments:<br />

• Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry<br />

• Department of Pharmaceutics<br />

• Department of Pharmacology<br />

• Department of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry<br />

Research Programme in Pharmaceutical Medicine in collaboration<br />

with Ranbaxy<br />

The faculty offers a unique programme leading to PhD in Pharmaceutical Medicine<br />

in collaboration with Ranbaxy Research Laboratories. Training is provided in the<br />

areas of pre-clinical pharmacology and toxicology, clinical pharmacokinetics,<br />

biopharmaceutics and drug regulation.<br />

Eligibility<br />

Candidates should have passed M Pharm from <strong>Jamia</strong> <strong>Hamdard</strong> or from any<br />

other institution recognized by AICTE and <strong>Jamia</strong> <strong>Hamdard</strong> in the relevant subject<br />

securing at least 55% marks in the aggregate.<br />

Selection Procedure<br />

Admission to PhD programme shall be made on the basis of Entrance test and<br />

interview of the eligible candidates conducted by <strong>Jamia</strong> <strong>Hamdard</strong>. The entrance<br />

test and interview will be based on the M Pharm syllabus of the relevant discipline<br />

of <strong>Jamia</strong> <strong>Hamdard</strong>.<br />

Note: Students admitted to PhD programme will be required to qualify in<br />

the following three theory Papers.<br />

• Research methodology<br />

• Communication skills<br />

• Specialization paper<br />

• Candidates who do not qualify in the proficiency test shall have to attend the<br />

prescribed course in English Proficiency<br />

Eligibility<br />

Candidates should have passed M Pharm from <strong>Jamia</strong> <strong>Hamdard</strong> or from any<br />

other institution recognized by AICTE and <strong>Jamia</strong> <strong>Hamdard</strong> in Pharmacology /<br />

Hospital Pharmacy / Clinical Pharmacy / Pharmaceutics or MBBS degree from<br />

a recognized institution. Preference will be given to MD / DNB degree holders in<br />

Pharmacology / Medicine / Clinical Pharmacology. Candidates with MSc degree<br />

in Pharmacology may also be considered. The required percentage is 55% in<br />

aggregate in the relevant subject.<br />
