how the Council Schools function.<br />

The preparations for the Parents‟ Night on 19 December are in full swing. Pascal is racing against time to<br />

get the stage ready for the show.<br />

LOYOLA SCHOOL, <strong>JAMSHEDPUR</strong><br />

By the end of October the season of exams was over in Loyola campus and the students at once sprang into<br />

action. One could see the staff and students practicing long hours in the field for the Annual Sports Day.<br />

Commuters by the road paused to take in the display of row upon row of dazzling House colour flags,<br />

flapping in the air, as they were being carried to the measured beats coming from drums and bugles of the<br />

school band. Even at this initial stage of practice it was a magnificent sight to behold.<br />

Loyola School organized and participated in a lot of activities in the month of November and brought in<br />

laurels to the school. The Biology Club organized Symbiosis on 7 to 9 November. The History Cell<br />

organized “Yesterday Once More”, for seven schools in town. Making use of time and facilities, the<br />

Computer Club organized “Etrix” an E--educational entertainment programme for budding computer buffs<br />

in which 18 schools from the town participated. Last year this event was organized at Tata Auditorium in<br />

the XLRI Campus. In the National Debate competition of ASISC at Hyderabad, a student from Loyola<br />

stood first. Seven students participated in the ICSE National Basketball and Swimming Competition in<br />

Bangalore and one of them won a prize. A group of 120 students of Interact Club stayed in school and<br />

organized its two-day programme. The participants came from Jharkhand and Bihar.<br />

Victor Misquith attended the Annual All ICSE/ISE Principals Meet in Lucknow. To walk into Loyola will<br />

no more be the same since it is one of the centres for holding the IIM CAT Exam from November 28 to 7<br />

December.<br />

JYOTI organized its 26 th Interschool Basketball Tournament form 16 to 21 November in Loyola School<br />

basketball court. 15 schools participated in the tournament.<br />

The CRI Meeting was organized here at Loyola on 8 November with 48 religious taking part in a session<br />

that started at 9 in the morning and finished with a sumptuous lunch arranged by our Minister, Maxi<br />

Lakra.<br />

Pastor Cyril Tigga was away in Patna making his annual retreat and Jaison, also doing his Guided Pastoral<br />

Ministry, took care of the spiritual needs of Sonari Parish, .where he found himself administering the<br />

Sacraments of Baptism and Matrimony, even officiating at a burial. He called for a meeting of the youth of<br />

the parish and was pleasantly surprised at the large turnout.<br />

ST. XAVIER'S, LUPUNGUTU<br />

The Government sponsored Mid-Day Meal scheme commenced from July, 2009. It is only for the students<br />

of Class 7 and 8. Six hundred students avail this scheme daily. The students are more than happy.<br />

On 14 November all the 1300 students came wearing “coloured dress” to celebrate Children‟s Day. The<br />

children staged a variety of programmes. At the same time the School bid tearful farewell to Mr. Joseph<br />

Bhengra, who retired on 31 October 2009 after 36 years of dedicated and committed teaching service.<br />

The Sent-up Exam for 180 Tenthers and 90 Inter College Students and the 2 nd Term Exam for 7 th to 9 th<br />

Classes were held from the 16-21 November, 2009.<br />

The Middle and High Schools together are going to celebrate the feast of St. Francis Xavier, the patron<br />

saint of the schools, on 3 December, 2009. Both the Schools are fully engaged to preparing for the Annual<br />

Sports Day, scheduled for 13 December, 2009 at 12:30 p.m.
