2011. Their son, Edward Tregear, was born nine weeks early in July 2012 and is now an<br />
energetic and happy little boy. She would love to hear from any Jesuans visiting this part<br />
<strong>of</strong> the world.<br />
J B S HUBBARD (1976) left Bournemouth School after twenty-five year’s service, which<br />
embraced stints as Head <strong>of</strong> Lower School, Chairman <strong>of</strong> the Common Room, Staff<br />
Governor, and finally five years as Head <strong>of</strong> English. He is currently enjoying taking time<br />
to travel, read and write, walk, paint and garden, and reflect on returning to teaching <strong>of</strong><br />
some kind after a productive break.<br />
N G E HUDSON (1978) has returned to England from Rome, where for the last nine<br />
years he has been Rector <strong>of</strong> the English <strong>College</strong>, to become Parish Priest at the Sacred<br />
Heart Church, Wimbledon, his home parish which, like Wimbledon <strong>College</strong> where he<br />
was at school, has until now been staffed by Jesuits.<br />
I C HUTCHINSON CERVANTES (1986) is now Priest in Charge <strong>of</strong> the Parish <strong>of</strong> Nuthurst<br />
and Mannings Heath and World Mission Officer for the Diocese <strong>of</strong> Chichester.<br />
S J IRWIN (1972), Queen’s Bench Judge since 2006 and Presiding Judge on the Northern<br />
Circuit, 2008-2012, is now Chairman <strong>of</strong> the Special Immigration Appeals Committee.<br />
P C KÖHLER (1983) was elected Head <strong>of</strong> the School <strong>of</strong> Law at SOAS, <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
London in July 2012. He is also the owner <strong>of</strong> London’s cult cabaret bar CellarDoor,<br />
M S LEE (1983) has written a novel, a TV costume drama, three screenplays and a play.<br />
G H MANSFIELD (1988) was appointed a Queens’ Counsel in March 2012 as was<br />
another Jesuan, F M SINCLAIR (1982) (see below). They join more than two dozen other<br />
Jesuan QCs.<br />
M MARIX EVANS (1960) was presented with the President’s Award for his work on the<br />
preservation and visitor interpretation <strong>of</strong> the battlefield <strong>of</strong> Naseby at the Battlefields<br />
Trust Conference held at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Durham in April <strong>2013</strong>. The award was created<br />
on the initiative <strong>of</strong> the actor and military historian, Robert Hardy and was made for the<br />
first time in <strong>2013</strong>. The award was presented by Chairman Frank Baldwin, acting on<br />
behalf <strong>of</strong> Robert Hardy.<br />
R McLAUGHLIN (2002) was awarded the MBE in the New Year’s Honours List in 2012<br />
for Services to Defence.<br />
C J RODRIGUES (1968) has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
Surrey to recognise his outstanding contribution to the tourism industry. Christopher<br />
has also become Chair <strong>of</strong> British Bobsleigh and Skeleton – the UK body responsible for<br />
participation in those Olympic and World championship sports.<br />
F M SINCLAIR (1983) has been appointed a Queens’ Counsel. She, Jane Bewsey (1982)<br />
and Leigh-Ann Mulcahy (1988) are among more than two dozen Jesuan QCs (see also<br />
G H Mansfield [1988] above).<br />
R G TOULSON (1964 Hon Fw) has become a Justice <strong>of</strong> the Supreme Court. He was a<br />
Queens’ Bench Judge 1996-2007, Chairman <strong>of</strong> the Law Commission 2002-2006, and a<br />
Lord Justice <strong>of</strong> Appeal 2007-<strong>2013</strong>. He is the fourth Jesuan to be a member <strong>of</strong> the UKs<br />
highest court, but the first to come from England. Lords Thankerton and Reid were<br />
from Scotland, Lord Lowry was from Northern Ireland.<br />
H M A WEAVERS (2007) ) has been awarded the Beddington Medal <strong>of</strong> the British Society<br />
for Developmental Biology. The Beddington Medal is the Society’s major award to a
