TORAH FUND TREASURER:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collects and submits Torah Fund contributions and the
transmittals of those contributions to the Torah Fund
office.
• Completes records of the sisterhood membership,
indicating the amount of the pledge each year and the
date of payment (NOTE: Computer printouts are
available from the Torah Fund office).

• Remits the checks directly to the Torah Fund office (3080 Broadway, New York, NY
10027-4649). The final remittance is due before June 15 of each year.
• All Torah Fund money should be kept in a separate sisterhood account and
contributions sent periodically during the year to the Torah Fund office, with a complete
list of names and addresses of all contributors.
• Prepares and sends multiple copies of transmittal
forms: one copy each to the Torah Fund office, the
Region VP, and the area director, and one for your
records.
• Sends names and addresses of all donors to the New
York Torah Fund office as soon as they have made
their pledges.
• Acknowledges all charitable gifts of $250 and over
with an IRS-acceptable receipt. (JTS issues receipts for all Torah Fund gifts over $18
when checks are received from individuals.)
• Torah Fund cannot issue a receipt to individuals for any contributions received paid
via a sisterhood account—in this case, it is the sisterhood’s obligation to issue their
own receipts.
• Acknowledgement forms are available at no charge through the Torah Fund office.
These are used when a sisterhood remits contributions with a sisterhood check.

that all gifts of $18 or more

directly to Torah Fund.
