The drill hole locations for the first round of drilling by Ivanhoe were surveyed by tape and
compass from fixed benchmarks established by Differential GPS during the Ivanhoe exploration.
Some of these benchmarks still exist in the project area. The second round of drilling,
conducted by JCM, used tape and compass traverses in conjunction with hand-held GPS
surveys. Neither method is sufficiently accurate for surveying drill hole collar locations, with the
lack of precise positioning affecting the confidence of the geological model for the Mewet Vein
area.
The drill hole database was supplied to GMT in a number of formats and the entire dataset was
migrated into a new Access database for convenience and correlation. The final database
contained the following tables:
• Collar : Easting, northing and elevation of the collar in WGS84 Zone 50North projection,
drill hole depth, collar azimuth and inclination of the bore hole and comments,
• Assay : Detailed intervals of sampling from the project, including sample number, from
and to intervals, detailed analysis data including check samples and repeat samples and
average gold (taken across the results of the primary and check samples),
• Survey : Recording of all down hole survey data, using collar data at the end of hole if no
down hole surveys were completed,
• Lithology : Detailed core logging data such as lithology, alteration, oxidation and
mineralisation.

6.
