University of Kent / ARTS STUDIO
WORKING CREATIVELY
The success of Kent’s Event and Experience
Design graduates proves that fascinating
opportunities exist for graduates with first-class
academic qualifications, imagination and the drive
to realise their dreams.
Following a career in event design is an exciting
prospect: the range of locations – from regional
to national to international; the range of
materials – from puppets to fireworks to
complex lighting systems; the scale of events –
from company launches to fashion shows to
music festivals, makes your working
environment diverse and dynamic.
When producing events, you can let your
imagination take the lead, inventing new ways
of showcasing neglected buildings or areas,
involving communities in events that give them a
different take on their environment, and creating
spectacular one-off events that stay with
people forever.
You may find yourself working with
museums or galleries to create experiences that
will inspire people to want to discover new
worlds. Alternatively, your work could be with a
large commercial company looking to rebrand
itself for a new generation.
At Kent we develop your creative side,
building on your existing skills and introducing
you to the latest technology and equipment; our
workshops give you the space to develop your
ideas – however grand their scale. Alongside
your creative work, we support you to develop
project management skills.
We also ensure that you get experience of
working in the real world. All students work on
real world projects – creating real events for real
clients, which means that when you graduate
you have the kinds of experience that
employers are looking for.
International impact
The reputation of the University and of our
course means that we attract students from
across the world to study with us. You will study
and work with students from countries including
France, Spain, Malaysia, Poland and the US,
giving you a unique chance to learn about other
cultures first-hand and to broaden your
experience of how events are produced and
perceived around the world.
Trafalgar 200 celebrated the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar. The event was designed
by Kent lecturer Paul Gambrill as part of the Mice International Group.
