Integrated Planning and
Reporting progress
In 2009, the NSW Division of Local Government introduced the
integrated planning and reporting framework. The framework was
developed in conjunction with NSW councils and other major
stakeholders in acknowledgement that council plans do not exist in
isolation, but influence each other’s outcomes. The framework also
recognises that communities do not exist in isolation, but are part of
a larger, social, economic, natural and political environment which
influences and shapes the future direction of their communities.
The framework requires councils to draw their various plans together,
to better understand how they interact and to get the maximum
leverage from their efforts by planning holistically for the future.
The main components of the new framework can be seen in the
diagram below.
