1970 Mar. Demonstrated 10 units of CARRY VAN electric vehicles at the Osaka Expo.<br />
1971 Jul.<br />
Established an Environmental Protection Section in Facilities Group of Production Engineering Dept. to take<br />
environmental measures in our production processes.<br />
1977 Apr. Built the <strong>Suzuki</strong> Group Safety & Hygiene and Pollution Issues Council.<br />
1978 Dec. Developed the CARRY VAN electric vehicles.<br />
1981 Dec. Held “Energy Saving Symposium” with Machinery Industry Promotion Foundation (now <strong>Suzuki</strong> Foundation).<br />
1989 Aug. Established an Environmental Issue Council to promote company-wide environmental conservation activities.<br />
1990 Mar. Installed Freon collectors at domestic distributors to collect Freon contained in car air conditioner refrigerant for reuse.<br />
1991 Dec. Totally abolished the use of specific CFC (contained in polyurethane foamed components, such as seats).<br />

Started displaying material names on resin parts.<br />
Developed a continuously variable transmission (SCVT) which was installed in CULTUS Convertible.<br />

Reorganized an Environment & Industrial Waste group by integrating the Environmental Protection Section<br />

Jun. Started collecting and recycling used bumpers replaced by dealers.<br />

Installed a facility to recycle sludge contained in wastewater to reuse it as asphalt sheets.<br />

Started reusing casting sand waste (generated at foundries) as cement materials.<br />

Jan. Renewed the waste incinerator to reduce waste and reuse heat waste (steam).<br />

for washing instead of organic solvent.<br />
