math class to estimate weight, height, circumference,
and diameter. They also have been working
in FACS class to sew a pouch for their e-readers,
iPods, etc. and have been learning about using
debit and credit cards, balancing a checkbook,
and tipping. The month of October was concluded
by carving pumpkins for the altar at the
Pumpkin Liturgy and going to an educational
corn maze near Park Rapids. The theme for the
corn maze and the activities there were based on
our 1 st president, George Washington.
Finally, we would like to conclude by
thanking everyone who helped us top our goal for
the marathon by helping us raise $25,606 for Holy
Rosary School! Four of our students, Kobe
Braukmann, Katrianna Mehlhaff, Grace
Jaroszewski, and Madison Bowers, earned over
$1,000 and made the “$1,000 Club”. Thank you
everyone for your commitment and dedication to
our school – it is a true blessing!

The theme for Catholic
Schools Week 2013 is “Catholic
Schools Raise the Standards”.
The annual observance starts
the last Sunday in January and runs all week,
which in 2013 is January 27th through February
2nd. Schools typically celebrate Catholic
Schools Week with masses, open houses, and
activities for students, families, parishioners
and the community at large.
As parents, grandparents, alumni, parents
of alumni, and friends of Holy Rosary School,
we realize the importance of a strong academic
education immersed in our faith and values.
Holy Rosary School is dedicated to continuing
this service for our students.

Veteran’s Day Program
On Friday, November 9 th , Holy Rosary School
hosted a Veterans Day Program to honor the
brave men and women, past and present, who
serve our country to preserve and protect the
freedoms and liberties of all Americans. Following
the Presentation of the Colors by the University
of North Dakota ROTC, students in grades
pre-school through eight listened intently as veterans
representing the Coast Guard, National
Guard, Army, Navy and Air Force, shared their
experiences and urged students to never forget
the sacrifices made by members of the United
States Military. One speaker, George Peters, a
former member of the Army’s elite Green Beret
Unit, is a multiple Purple Heart recipient. The
ROTC Cadets fielded questions from the students
about the ROTC Program. Finally, Holy
Rosary School gave special recognition to school
custodian, Larry Vange, a veteran of the US
Navy. Larry was presented with a picture of
the USS Saratoga, the Air Craft Carrier he
served on in 1977 and 1978. The picture was
signed by all of the students of Holy Rosary
School. The program was organized by Donna
Kennedy who devoted many hours of planning
and organizing to make the event a success.
