New school and church sign on
Washington Avenue
Have you seen it? We finally have our new
sign! On September 11th, our new electronic
sign was installed on top of a beautiful brick
structure, which was donated by Winter Masonry.
It is located in front of the school on
Washington Avenue.
Almost three years ago, the school advisory
council came to a consensus that we could
utilize a sign to help market our school and to
help make the community aware of our presence.
Plus, it let’s everyone know of events or
changes which take place at the school and
parish.
With the help of the Knights of Columbus,
Spring Interlude, and PTO, we were able to
raise the needed funds, which totaled over
$26,000. We also received generous donations
from David and Gina Steffl, Frank and Barb
Foltz, the late Jim Walz, alumni, Margaret
Hemauer, Juanita Carlisle, and others.
This structure will be a life-long school/
parish landmark and we thank and bless everyone
who has made it a reality!
Community
Holy Rosary School has been designated
a Ground Water Guardian
Community by the Ground Water
Guardian Foundation. This title has been awarded due
to the successful participation in the Water Festival.
For over twelve years the 4th grade students have
teamed up with professional mentors from the community
to research specific topics concerned with the protection
of ground water and the environment. The students
become the teachers by presenting their research
to classmates, parents, and the public. The goal is to
instill in each student a lifelong awareness and concern
for protecting our environment, particularly the ground
water. Presentation is always held in May at HRS.
