GBM Markets
GBM Markets is the hub of our sales and trading activities. It combines strengths
in Research & Strategy, Structuring, Sales and Trading in order to help our clients
achieve their investment, hedging and financing strategies. As a graduate in
Markets your programme will specialise in one of these following four areas.
GBM Markets – Trading
Few places are more pressurised than the trading desk. But if you’re sharp, quickwitted
and good with numbers, this is one of the most exhilarating careers the
financial markets has to offer.
What it involves
In the first year of the programme, you can expect to help price deals and
supervise low-risk portfolios.. From the second year onwards, your progress will be
down to you. Prove your abilities at an early stage, and we’ll rapidly devolve more
and more responsibilities to you.
WHY IT’S THE
RIGHT PLACE.
What we look for
Exceptional numerical and analytical skills are an absolute necessity. Candidates
looking to move into derivatives trading should have a mathematics, econometrics,
science or engineering degree since this type of trading involves a greater reliance
on quantitative analysis.
GBM Markets – Sales
Are you good with people and want to talk to clients? Enjoy mathematics and are
able to explain complex financial products in a simple, clear, and articulate manner?
Then there could be a place for you in sales.
What it involves
Once your initial training is complete, you’ll then work and learn from the best. We
believe in giving you as much exposure as possible: within six months of arrival,
you could be managing your own portfolio of clients.
Syndicate – acting as the key link between the markets and banking franchises
Syndicate represents a hybrid between the sales, trading and structuring
disciplines. If your interest lies in structuring, raising and distributing funding for
corporate and institutional clients, this is the area for you.
What we look for
Confident, tenacious and equipped with first-rate communication skills, you’ll know
how to build strong relationships with clients. Since you willoften be discussing
complex products, you’ll also need to be analytical, enjoy mathematics and have an
excellent grasp of the financial markets.
