We use the latest programming languages and technologies to create bespoke
solutions and collaborate closely with other departments to ensure these solutions
are aligned to clients’ needs.
What it involves
Graduates who join this programme are allocated to different product areas. Once
assigned, you’ll undertake two rotations in front and back office which will give you
a broad understanding of financial markets, projects and product styles. Whether
you are developing or supporting an application, you can expect to be building,
integrating and delivering solutions for a specific business.
What we look for
Technical skills are not essential, but those who demonstrate a keen interest in
both finance and technology will have a distinct advantage. Many of our graduate
trainees have degrees in engineering, mathematics, economics, computer sciences
and the physical sciences. However, if you can display a high level of numeracy
and strong analytical skills, you should not let your degree subject prevent you from
applying.

GBM Operations
Operations is essential; to our core business, from the moment a trade is booked,
right through to validation and settlement, the team here is responsible for the endto-end
management of all our transactions.
What it involves
Working closely with the front office, the team here processes on average 285,000
trades every day and manages cash assets worth GBP £750 billion. In Asia
Pacific, GBM Operations has over 1,100 staff based in 11 countries across 6 time
zones. Join us and you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end management of our
transactions.
By equipping you with a detailed understanding of how our different financial
products, systems and processes work, the graduate programme will give you the
platform to progress and acquire ever greater responsibilities.
What we look for
As a graduate on this programme, you’ll gain exposure to various specialist
teams in Operations, which could see you joining Middle Office, Confirmations,
Settlements, Prime Services, Change Management, Client Valuations, Collateral and
Relationship Management.
A good general understanding of financial markets, scrupulous attention to detail
and excellent analytical skills are essential too. The role requires you to liaise
regularly with both internal and external clients, so you’ll also need to be a confident
communicator.
