What attracted you to working for RBS?
People. My main motivation to work for RBS is the
camaraderie present amongst employees. I have heard
from insiders and had firsthand experience of the vibrant
and diversified culture in RBS; which is important to me and
made me feel that I want to be part of the team.
What training and development opportunities have you
received?
I started slightly early on my desk before my training in
London. I learned a fair bit about trading and the environs
surrounding the Asian currency markets. In London, we
were taught the intricacies of the financial products
currently in the markets.
Describe what you do
Presently I cover the emerging markets (EM) forex desk
and am currently the main market maker for USDSGD and
USDTHB on my desk. I also help traders to quote and take
positions in Non-Deliverable Forwards (NDFs) and swaps in
other Asian currencies.
Can you describe a project you’ve been involved in
that’s been particularly high-profile or challenging for
you?
Shortly after coming back to London, I was assigned to
Hong Kong to learn more about the CNH (offshore Chinese
Yuan) and report my findings to my manager. The CNH
market was still at its infancy then, it was started in Aug/Sep
2010 and it was definitely a big project for a Grad.
What attracted you to work at RBS?
RBS’s culture and environment are what attracted me to
work here most. The structure is very flat here; it doesn’t
matter whether you are a Director or an Intern, people will
respect you and listen to you as long as you are producing
and getting the work done.
How would you describe the RBS culture and working
environment?
It is a dynamic environment; people are nice and willing to
teach.
Describe what you do?
I interned at RBS prior to joining the Graduate Programme
as an Equity Derivative Sales Analyst, covering private
banking. Currently I am working in the Equity Delta team as
an Index Analyst, monitoring all major indices for internal
traders and external portfolio managers. I also write market
memos and help to cover sales while they are away.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I am quite a sporty girl. I like to play squash and badminton,
and go swimming in my leisure time. I also enjoy catching
up with friends.
