LUMS Holds 22 Convocation
The Lahore University of Management Sciences
(LUMS), which is celebrating 25 years of academic

excellence this year, held its 22 annual convocation
recently.
The LUMS community celebrated the graduation of
626 students and honoured its outstanding students
with awards and medals for excellence in academic
performances.
On the occasion, the National Management
Foundation, the governing body at LUMS, awarded
gold and silver medals to graduates securing top
positions in various programmes. Dr. Mehmood
Khan, Senior Vice-President and Chief Scientific
Officer, PepsiCo Inc, was keynote speaker at the
convocation. He spoke about how reinventing
yourself is vital throughout one’s career. He
emphasized the importance of aspiring to be a
leader and the eagerness to learn.
An evening earlier, the traditional Graduate Night
Dinner was held where graduates achieving
distinctions in subject areas and those making it to
the coveted Dean's Honour List were awarded
medals and shields.
Sixty-seven graduating students who made it to the
Dean's Honour list and/or received Corporate Gold
Medals were honoured. The first two alumni batches
(MBA 1988, MBA 1989) were also invited to the
Graduate Night Dinner.
The idea was for the newest alumni batch to see the
earliest alumni who contributed largely to the
success and repute of their alma mater.
HEC Announces Prize of Rs. 100,000
Inam Wins Gold Medal in Commonwealth Games
Muhammad Inam, HEC Wrestler (84 kg) won gold
medal while representing Pakistan in the
Commonwealth Games recently held in India. He is
the first Pakistani to win a gold medal in
Commonwealth Games in 20 years.
HEC groomed this player who became part of the
national team. Inam, MBA student at University of
the Punjab, participated in both freestyle and Greco-
Roman wrestling at the 2010 Commonwealth
Games. He won gold medal in freestyle wrestling
against his Indian opponent, Anuj Kumar.
Earlier, Inam has also represented HEC in National
Junior Championship and won
gold medal in May 2009, besides
winning bronze medal in National
Senior Wrestling Championship
in March 2010. He is a recipient of
HEC scholarship for sports.
On his return from India, Inam
was received by Mr. Talat Khurshid, Director General
(Sports) HEC along with Mr. Khaliq Khan, Secretary
General, Pakistan Olympic Association.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Khurshid announced a
cash prize of Rs. 100,000 on behalf of HEC for Inam.
