Signs MoUs with<br />
Malaysian Universities<br />
The Greenwich University has signed<br />
Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with<br />
two universities in Malaysia, Limkokwing<br />
University and Universiti Malaysia Perlis as a<br />
part of its commitment to raising the<br />
standard of education.<br />
The objective of the collaboration is to<br />
strengthen, promote and develop<br />
cooperation with Malaysia, which has<br />
emerged as an economic leader in Asia by<br />
setting high standards in education.<br />
Universiti Malaysia Perlis is a State<br />
university of Malaysia, which enjoys the<br />
reputation of an internationally competitive<br />
academic and research institution offering<br />
courses in engineering, computer, and<br />
communication from bachelors to PhD level.<br />
Limkokwing University is an International<br />
University with a global presence across<br />
three continents, with over 30000 students<br />
studying from more than 150 countries.<br />
The universities will extend cooperation to<br />
each other in the field of research through<br />
faculty exchange, joint projects,<br />
publications and exchange of information.<br />
Moreover, the universities will hold joint<br />
training programmes for faculty and<br />
students, national and international<br />
conferences, seminars, workshops, sociocultural<br />
tours and other areas of strategic<br />
importance.<br />
The International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI)<br />
recently hosted a seminar on “United States, Pakistan and<br />
China Relations in the Changing Regional Scenario” in<br />
collaboration with Pakistan-China Institute.<br />
Prominent US Scholar, Prof. Stephen Cohen, was the<br />
keynote speaker on the occasion. Others speakers included<br />
Dr. Anwar Hussain Siddiqui, President IIUI, Mr. Mushahid<br />
Hussain Sayyed, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed, Director, International<br />
Institute for Research and Dialogue, IIUI.<br />
Speakers highlighted the role of friendly relations among<br />
US, Pakistan and China for benefit of the region as a whole.<br />
In his keynote address, Prof. Cohen said that it is in best<br />
interest of the US to acknowledge the role of China and<br />
Pakistan in the changing world scenario as no single country<br />
is capable of giving the world peace and stability. He<br />
admitted that it was China which always played a positive<br />
role in the world soon after its independence in 1949.<br />
Dr. Siddiqui highlighted the role of educational institutions<br />
for peace and harmony in the society. He said that IIUI is<br />
preparing young generation in building future of human<br />
beings.<br />
Mr. Sayyed spoke on role of Pak-China Institute and said that<br />
it was established to strengthen relations with China in all<br />
walks of life. Mr. Riaz Ahmed Khan, former Foreign Secretary<br />
and Dr. Maliha Lodhi, former envoy to UK and USA, also<br />
addressed the gathering.<br />

Asma Usman, student football player of HEC, has been<br />
selected by the Pakistan Football Federation for playing in<br />
the national team during South Asian Football Federation<br />
(SAFF) Championship being held at Dhaka, Bangladesh.<br />
Asma is a student of BBA at University of the Punjab,<br />
Lahore.<br />
