2. Babies 0-12 months<br />

Practice In Place Planned<br />
Breast feeding is encouraged <strong>and</strong> supported:<br />
• A place for mother to breastfeed is available<br />
• Mothers are encouraged to supply expressed<br />
breast milk.<br />
2 Bottles of infant formula feeds are freshly prepared.<br />

Expressed breast milk or formula is labelled with<br />
child’s name <strong>and</strong> date.<br />
Expressed breast milk or infant formula is stored in<br />
the fridge at 5°C<br />
Unfinished expressed breast milk or infant formula<br />
is discarded after 1 hour.<br />
All preparation of milk feeds <strong>and</strong> weaning foods<br />
are carried out in a clean <strong>and</strong> safe manner.<br />
7 Bottles <strong>and</strong> teats are sterilised for babies.<br />

Babies are held while being bottle fed by an<br />
attentive adult.<br />
9 Weaning is initiated in partnership with parents.<br />

A variety of appropriate home cooked foods are<br />
offered as well as the jars/packets of baby foods.<br />
