In the following table the comparison between the <strong>cost</strong> per core hour for 2011 streaming from e-‐FISCAL <br />
<strong>calculations</strong> (Basic Case) <strong>and</strong> the Amazon prices for St<strong>and</strong>ard M/L/XL instances -‐ Linux per core hour are <br />
presented. We concentrate our discussion on Linux as it more commonly used in research. Nevertheless, we also <br />
present the Windows comparisons in the Appendix 7.6. <br />

It is evident that the e-‐FISCAL median <strong>cost</strong> (basic case) is more expensive than the prices of the 3-‐year reserved <br />
instances but less expensive than all other cases. The average e-‐FISCAL <strong>cost</strong> (basic case) is more expensive than <br />
even the on-‐dem<strong>and</strong> instances. <br />
