NCLB School Public
Accountability Reports
(SPARs)
No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation
requires that school districts provide parents
with an annual school status report at the
beginning of each school year. These
reports are known as the NCLB School
Public Accountability Reports (SPARs).
The Department of Education will post all
reports containing the required NCLB
indicators and the Adequate Yearly Progress
(AYP) addendum report on the Web before
the end of September 2011. Once the
Department of Education has posted the
reports, Osceola School District staff will
provide parents and the community with the
necessary information to view or obtain the
reports for Osceola County schools.
Virtual
Backpack
The Osceola School District has launched a
“green” approach to distributing information to
students from non-profit organizations,
intergovernmental agencies, and business
partners for which it grants approval. Rather than
sending home approved flyers for entities outside
the school district as in the past, we will now be
posting such information on a Virtual Backpack
webpage throughout the school year for all to see.
By doing so, it collectively saves school staff
thousands of hours of sorting and handling these
flyers, as well as reduces the amount of paper
being distributed saving our natural resources.
For a list of current flyers, go to
www.osceola.k12.fl.us, click on
Virtual Backpack Electronic Flyers,
then Flyer Listings.
The school district and its schools
will continue to send home information for parents
and students in students’ backpacks.
Teachers will send home assignments and
materials as normal, so be sure to continue to
check your child’s backpack frequently for
school and classroom news and
homework/grading.
