V E T E R A N ’ S D A Y P A R A D E
Veteran’s Day was celebrated nationwide on
Tuesday, November 11, and St. James residents turned
out to show their support at the annual Veteran’s Day
Parade and ceremony here in town.
It was a day to honor all
those who served and
those who are still serving
in our Armed Forces.
We join our neighbors
and friends in extending
our gratitude and thanks
to al our Veterans!
MEGAN SHUTKA MARCHES IN
VETERANS DAY PARADE...
LTJG Megan Shutka is flanked by Assemblyman
Michael Fitzpatrick and Legislator Lynne Nowick at
the Veterans’ Day ceremonies in St. James. Megan, a
new member of the John W. Cooke VFW Post 395,
marched with her fellow Post members in the
November 11, 2008 parade on Lake Avenue, to the
applause of her friends and neighbors, and especially
her proud parents Meg and Charlie. Megan is currently
stationed on the aircraft carrier Enterprise,
CVN 65, based in Norfolk, but she expects to be
leaving soon for duty in Afghanistan. As a public
Affairs Officer, her duties have taken her many
places, including the West and Central African
Partnership Station, focusing on maritime safety and
security training with the African navy.
