Ralph S. Croskey, Jr.
Ralph S. Croskey, Jr., of Ronkonkoma, NY and
Boca Raton, FL, died peacefully on October 24, 2008
in Florida at the age of 87. He was born on March
24, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA to Lucile Stothart and
Ralph S. Croskey whom predeceased him. Ralph
grew up in PA, graduated from Haverford School in
1939 then continued his education at Cornell
University, graduating in 1943. He was an officer in
the U.S. Air Force during WWII serving from 1943-
1946. He received his law degree from the University
of Pennsylvania in 1948. A published author in 2004
and long-time manager of Mutual of NY in
Manhattan.
Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth. Devoted
father of Ralph III, Christine, Stephen, Rebecca and
Julie. Devoted step-father of Cindy, George and Kim.
Loving brother of Thomas and Mary Lou. Cherished
grandfather of 21 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A memorial visitation and service was held at the
St. James Funeral Home in St. James, NY.
Arrangements were entrusted to our family;

Maher, Jr. at the St. James Funeral Home, St. James.
Thomas Christy
Thomas W. Christy, formerly of Smithtown and
Hanover Township, passed away on November 24,
2008 at the age of 82 at the VNA Hospice of St.
Luke’s, Lower Saucon Township. He and his wife
Gertrude E. (McCormack) Christy celebrated their
59th anniversary in August.
Born in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late
Thomas W. and Helen (O’Donnell) Christy. He was a
1944 graduate of Valley Stream High School, and a
1950 graduate of St. John’s University. Thomas
served with the US Army Air Corp during World War
II. He worked for Shell Oil in Brooklyn retiring as
Plant Manager in 1987 after 35 years of service. He
was a volunteer teacher for Project Business in
Brooklyn. Thomas was a member of Notre Dame
Catholic Church of Bethlehem, where he served as a
Eucharistic Minister; and after retiring, he volunteered
as finance/business manager at the Church for
17 years. Thomas was a volunteer or the YMCA of
Greater New York in Manhattan, where he was a
three-time recipient of the “Man of the Year” award.
He is survived by his wife, sons, Thomas J. and his
wife, Linda of St. James, NY; James (Barbara) of
Bloomsburg; Joseph J. (Mariann) of Ann Arbor, MI;
Jerry (Janet) of Gilbertsville; Daniel P. (Lisa) of Bath;
daughter, Mary Christy of Bath with whom he
resided; sister, Helen McCauliff (Gregory) of Dennisport,
MA; and 11 grandchildren. Thomas was preceded
in death by his sister Jane Dinan.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on November
29, 2008 at Notre Dame Catholic Church,
Bethlehem. Interment followed at Sacred Heart
Cemetery, Bath.

Andrew S. Eschbach, of Ridge L.I., passed away
on November 23, 2008. Beloved husband of the late
Lanie. Cherished father of Sharon (Patty), Drew
(Jennifer), Christine (James), Sharon and Mark
Hamilton. Loving grandpa of Jonathan, Nicole and
Mark. Devoted brother of Marilyn, Joseph and
Suellen.
A Funeral Service was held on November 26,
2008 at the St. James Funeral Home. Interment followed
at St. James Episcopal Cemetery, St. James.

Christopher P. O’Brien
Christopher P. O’Brien, life-long resident of St.
James, passed away suddenly on November 27,
2008. Cherished husband of Beth. Loving father of
Hung, Tu, Erin, and Annie. Beloved brother of
Patricia, Judy, Joe and Tom. Devoted brother-in-law
of Jane, Barbara, Sharon, Susan and Timothy.
Beloved uncle to many.
A Funeral Mass was held on December 2, 2008 at
Sts. Philip & James R.C. Church, St. James.
Committal was private.

Anthony J. Palladino
Anthony J. Palladino, of Sayville L.I., passed away
on November 19, 2008. Beloved husband of the late
Josephine. Cherished mother of Linda (Eric) Kushins,
Dolores (Bill) Maggi, and Robert (Laurie) Palladino.
Loving BABA of seven and great grandfather of one.
A Funeral Mass was held at Sts. Philip & James
R.C. Church in St. James. Interment followed at St.
Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
