the cult success of his book,
Dirty White Boy, Clayton
Littlewood has adapted his
memoirs of running a shop
on Old Compton Street into a
stage performance. Clayton
(pictured far left) used to run
the Dirty White Boy store in
Soho (on the premises now
occupied by DV8). From his
window a Soho street corner,
Clayton sat and blogged with
humour and sensitivity about
the real-life characters that
passed through his doors.
The blog was serialised in
thelondonpaper, before being
collected into book form.
Now it comes to the West
End in a funny and insightful
stage adaptation at the
Trafalgar Studios, featuring
the writer himself, awardwinning
solo performer David
Benson (Think No Evil Of Us:
My Life With Kenneth Williams)
and Alexis Gerred, runner
up in BBC 1’s UK Eurovision
contest Your Country Needs
You, singing torch songs as
‘Dirty White Boy’.

We were rather impressed by the strength of Paul Weller’s
latest album, Wake Up The Nation (reviewed in last month’s
issue), and on top of his comprehensive back catalogue,
he certainly won’t be short of material to play at his three
headlining nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Expect nonstop
