Renault has released the first pictures of its new
Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet, which will go on sale in
the UK this summer. The four-seater Coupé-Cabriolet
is as pretty as its predecessor was gauche and gets a
folding, smoked-glass roof which, the manufacturer
promises, can be raised or folded away in 21 seconds.
The car also gets a fixed glass wind deflector behind the
rear seats that, Renault claims, allows four people to
enjoy ‘draught-free driving’ at speeds of up to 56mph.
The sixth new model in the Mégane line-up, the C-C
will be the first Renault to get the firm’s new dual clutch
gearbox. The six-speed unit is said to cut CO2 emissions
by up to 17% compared with a regular automatic.
Prices for the Mégane C-C had not been announced as
we went to press, but it’s expected that the car will cost
about the same as the Peugeot 308 CC, which starts at
around £20,000.
Price: from £20,000
370Z: BACK TO BLACK
Extra special versions of the iconic Nissan 370Z are
being built for the UK but only 370 examples of the
two-seater model will be made available in our
showrooms.
The special 370Z is Nissan’s tribute to the success of its
high-performance Z series cars that
won acclaim in the UK in
the 1970s. Due
to go on
sale this
month,
the
limited
run Black
Edition coupé comes in metallic black and quartz
finishes that apparently ‘heal’ after stone chip damage.
They stand on 19-inch forged aluminium wheels and
have eye-catching red brake callipers.
Inside, unique red leather and suede upholstery
includes seats embossed with special 40th anniversary
logos, a leather steering wheel, distinctive red stitching
and a suitably impressive touch-screen satellite
navigation and audio system.
As in the standard car, power comes from a 3.7-litre,
24-valve twin cam V6 motor that provides 0-to-62mph
acceleration in just 5.3 seconds and a top speed limited
to 155mph.
Price: from £33,645
