Statement:<br />

THE FOLLOWING IS A REPORT OF AN INTERVIEW WITH BRIANNA DEBWA AT THE US ATTORNEY'S<br />

OFFICE IN TACOMA ON 05/10107 AT AROUND 1310 HOURS.<br />

SDPA Hobbs and I met with Brianna Debwa at the US Attorney's office in Tacoma.<br />

Debwa told us the following in response to our questions (as a note, Debwa's answers and explanations jumped<br />

around and often changed throughout the interview):<br />

She was hired by Anita Latch to work at ACORN. She and Latch are friends. The first day Debwa went through<br />

training and also went into "the field" to register voters. After the first day Debwa was given the position as the<br />

Quality Control person (QC).<br />

The Tacoma ACORN office was first in the local library branch.<br />

Debwa was trained by Nianna Miller, who is from Florida. Debwa believes Miller works for Project Vote.<br />

Latch was in charge of the Tacoma ACORN office, but she was soon fired. Debwa claimed she did not know why<br />

Latch was fired.<br />

Debwa said that she was hired in the beginning of the ACORN Tacoma office, and she stayed until the office<br />

closed. Debwa said that it was her fault that the voter applications were turned into King County Elections late.<br />

Debwa then explained what she did as QG. She said she receives the voter registration applications at the end of<br />

the day and then makes calls on 10-20% to verify that the phone number are good and that the person's whose<br />

name was on the application really registered to vote.<br />

She said she called the ones that she knew were good, but not the ones that duplicates or that looked suspicious.<br />

She claimed she could tell by looking at a card if it was bad. She said she was trained by the W A State Liquor<br />

Board to recognize legitimate DL numbers. She said she received this training because she was a bartender at<br />

times.<br />

SDPA Hobbs showed Debwa her employment application and other employment-related documents. Debwa<br />

confirmed that they were the forms she completed. She told us that every employee had to fill out these forms.<br />

She confirmed that no backgrounds were done on employees.<br />

Debwa said that she sometimes went into the field to check on the workers. She said that Latch was supposed to<br />

be doing this, but she never did. Debwa said she ended up telling Latch what she should be doing. She said she<br />

practically ran everything.<br />

Debwa again went over some of the QG training she received. She said she received a training pamphlet that<br />

instructed her what to do. She said she was instructed to call people and verify the information on the voter<br />

registration application. She said a family member could verify for the person who completed the application.<br />

Debwa said she told all employees that the only person that should be completing an application is the applicant,<br />
