This local influence can be extended at the county scale within <strong>California</strong> as well. Of the<br />
visitors who reported themselves as <strong>California</strong> residents, more than half came from San<br />
Diego County (Table 3, Figure 2). Another quarter came from southern <strong>California</strong><br />
communities in Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside Counties. In sum, about 6 out <strong>of</strong><br />
every 7 visitors to the <strong>Park</strong> are <strong>California</strong> residents, and more than half <strong>of</strong> that number<br />
are from San Diego County.<br />

differences are reported here.<br />

International visitation to the <strong>Park</strong> accounted for about 5% <strong>of</strong> the total visitation in the fall<br />
(51 <strong>of</strong> 853) and spring (57 <strong>of</strong> 1041) sampling periods. Most <strong>of</strong> these international visitors<br />
were from Canada, but 20 other countries (mostly European) were represented in the<br />
sample as well (Table 4.).<br />
