3. Industry
The industry sector consumes about 17% (39 MTOE) of
the fossil fuel supply to the UK economy. The diversity
of the industry sector is a key part of its character,
making it more difficult to produce broad assessments
of potential improvements in CO 2 emissions.
Table 3 illustrates the main options considered for the
industry sector and shows which ones are included in
the reference scenario.
