Сейчас здесь выставлена экспозиция Львовской галереи искусств,
вновь появились старинные гобелены и картины,
которым может позавидовать и Лувр. А уникальные деревянные
скульптуры, возвращенные к жизни стараниями энтузиастов,
в первую очередь, директора Львовской картинной
галереи Бориса Возницкого, соперничают с творениями
великого Микеланджело.

tenants have no doubt; that was a prophecy
from up above.
The 17th century left many scars on the old
stronghold while Konstantin, one of Mr.
Sobieski’s descendants, sold the castle and
the neighboring town to the rich family of
Zewuskis. Though the young descendants
of the old Zewuski indeed devastated the
castle and the surroundings without any
wars and battles so that even their great
wealth did not help. The luxurious balls
and roaring carouses followed one after another,
but it eventually came to an end as
their great debts forced the Zewuski family
to sell all of their mansions and assets.

The numerous fires and an earthquake in
1838 showed no mercy to the walls and
halls of the castle, but the impressive fortification
at the wide hilltop still made it into
the 20th century.
The fateful hour came to the castle in the
1970s – the articles of fine arts started
returning to the castle’s ancient rooms
and halls.
Nowadays, a number of exhibits owned
by the Lvov Arts Gallery are on display at
the Olessko castle. Particularly, there are
pieces of tapestry and paintings capable of
challenging those of the Louvre. One can
also see the unique wooden sculptures
brought back to life by the enthusiastic
amateurs headed by Mr. Boris Voznitski,
the general manager of the Lvov Arts Gallery.
Those wooden masterpieces can even
challenge the ones created by the great
