Cameroon<br />

Priorities • Organization of screening and establishment of HPV vaccination.<br />

SHORT TERM<br />

• Evaluation of screening methods now being performed.<br />

• Extension of screening and treatment centers.<br />

• Training new staff.<br />

• Advocacy to extend HPV vaccinations.<br />

MEDIUM TERM<br />

• Strengthening of screening centers.<br />

• Implementation of a national HPV vaccination program.<br />

• Sharing of the national experience with other African countries.<br />

LONG TERM<br />

• Strengthening capacity building and screening techniques, treatment of<br />

precancerous lesions, and HPV vaccination.<br />

Technical support • Technical visits to understand the status of our cancer programs.<br />

• Assistance in obtaining vaccines and equipment to treat precancerous lesions (loop<br />

electrosurgical excision, cryotherapy, etc.).<br />

• Assistance in organizing a sharing meeting.<br />

Ghana<br />

Priorities • Do an analysis of the cervical cancer program on prevention and control.<br />

• Expand the policy on cervical cancer within the larger context of the reproductive<br />

health policy.<br />

• Include HPV vaccination.<br />

Activities<br />

SHORT TERM<br />

• Develop a strategic plan for prevention and control of cervical cancer and to use it to<br />

secure funding for the program.<br />

• Advocacy to educate health workers, politicians, and the general population.<br />

• Identify collaborators and stakeholders.<br />

• Organize stakeholders’ meetings to solicit support.<br />

MEDIUM TERM<br />

• Capacity building for health workers, teachers, volunteers, etc.<br />

• Pilot programs for HPV vaccination.<br />

• Scaling up of screening in three other regions.<br />

LONG TERM<br />

• Full scale screening and vaccination country-wide.<br />

• Monitoring and evaluation at all stages.<br />

Technical support • Support for capacity building (training, equipment, supply, and maintenance).<br />

• Research.<br />
