Monitoring Our Progress
With three years of Strategic Plan Implementation behind us, it is time to assess whether our
actions are moving us towards achieving our Strategic Plan goals:
Stronger Connections in Richmond Hill
Better Choice in Richmond Hill
A More Vibrant Richmond Hill
Wise Management of Resources in Richmond Hill
We are measuring our progress using
performance indicators designed for each of
the Strategic Plan goals. Not all of our goals can
be easily measured, however. Our performance
indicators use both statistical and descriptive
information to measure our progress.
Together, they allow us to measure the impact
of our actions over the last three years.
2012 Community Survey
One of the ways we measure our progress is
by asking our residents how we are doing.
In January 2012 the Town hired Environics
Research Group to conduct a Community
Survey of 600 randomly selected Richmond
Hill residents.
This report is the first time we have included
performance indicator data. Some indicators
are only significant when examined over a
longer period of time, and will be reported on
in future Annual Reports. For these indicators,
we have gathered baseline data to establish
our current situation. This baseline data will
allow us to better track our progress over time.
In addition, new indicators may be added in
coming years if they provide more meaningful
data. Measuring progress in this way provides
insight on the effectiveness of our actions,
and highlights areas that may need to be
re-evaluated.
The following section provides a snapshot of
the progress we have made towards our
strategic goals:

An indicator is a key area of focus that allows
us to measure progress towards our goals.
Each indicator has an associated measure that
uses numerical data or descriptive information
to track progress.
