Each of these key areas of focus are equally important in achieving our future
vision for Richmond Hill. We are making meaningful progress in all of them.
This section of our report reviews our cumulative efforts in each of our six key areas of focus:
1. Leadership
To achieve our community vision, how we act
is as important as what we do. Providing
leadership means working with other
organizations and levels of government to
influence the issues and policies that affect
Richmond Hill. It also means engaging with
other communities to find common ground
and to initiate partnerships.
Council Task Forces: Leading the Way
During 2011-2012, Council has three task forces to help lead Council and community priorities.
These task forces provide leadership to align and implement our major town plans and initiatives.
People Plan Task Force
Richmond Hill Council
The People Plan Task Force led the development of the Cultural Plan, a key document that will
shape the Town’s cultural development and reflect the priorities of the Strategic Plan. With
community support and input, a draft plan was developed in Fall 2011 that, subsequent to further
community feedback, Council approved on December 6, 2011. Moving forward, the People Plan
Task Force will also lead the development of the Parks Plan, Recreation Plan, Environment
Strategy and Secondary Plans for the Downtown Local Centre, Richmond Hill Centre
and Oak Ridges Local Centre.
