Victorian Doctors Health Program
The Victorian Doctors Health Program was
established to ensure that a fulltime, dedicated
service is available to meet the needs of sick and
impaired doctors and medical students. It provides
prompt advice to doctors and medical students
who feel at risk, or think that they may have a
problem. Advice is also available to family members,
colleagues, hospital or clinic staff.
This is a confidential and compassionate service for
doctors and medical students with health concerns
including alcohol, other drug and mental health
problems.

Student Insurance Cover
All students enrolled at the University of Melbourne
are covered for death and disablement benefits,
loss of earnings due to temporary total or partial
disablement and Non Recoverable Medical Expenses
resulting from accidental causes whilst engaged in
University related activities (as per policy schedule).
However, gap insurance is not provided and
there are other limitations on the policy, including
conditions to which no benefits apply. Students may
therefore want to consider taking out private health
cover.

Students wishing to make an insurance claim should
contact the Finance Officer, Rural Health Academic
Centre, to obtain a claim form.
