Painter's Community Park, 34th and<br />

Lyndale South, Minneapolis (across<br />

from Sonny's Ice Cream). No water or<br />

toilet at start. Start the Sunday<br />

Morning June biking season on one of<br />

the prettiest trails in the metro area,<br />

The Midtown Greenway. The route<br />

varies each week but is within the<br />

mileage range listed. Each week we<br />

make our way to the Wendy's for a<br />

Frosty break before heading back to<br />

the metro area. Enjoy the end of<br />

springtime on Sunday mornings with<br />

SUN DOWN THE RIVER<br />

AND UP THE CREEK. Depart from<br />

parking lot at Coon Rapids Dam<br />

Regional Park, 10360 West River<br />

Road, in Brooklyn Park. A nice,<br />

leisurely ride on the roads and trails of<br />

Brooklyn Park, Coon Rapids, Fridley,<br />

and Brooklyn Center. We'll start at the<br />

dam's west side parking lot (take<br />

highway 610 to Noble Pkwy; go north<br />

to 97th Ave; east to Russell Ave; then<br />

north to park entrance (Russell<br />

becomes W River Rd)). Then we'll<br />

cross over and head south on the<br />

Mississippi River Corridor bike trail,<br />

continue south to Weber Parkway,<br />

hook up with the Shingle Creek bike<br />

trail and head north, then east on bike<br />

trail paralleling 85th Ave, and back<br />

north again to our starting point.<br />

There are several opportunities for<br />

water/rest breaks along the route.<br />

Depart from Erik's Bike Shop, 2059<br />

Snelling Ave. N. across from Har Mar<br />

Mall in Roseville. The route goes to St.<br />

Paul via Como Avenue and crosses the<br />

river on the Wabasha Bridge. It<br />

returns up the rivers by the Lilydale<br />

Road and Big Rivers Trail, over the<br />

Mendota Bridge to Fort Snelling and<br />

on to Minnehaha Park for a rest stop.<br />

From there it continues on up the<br />

river to the Stone Arch Bridge and<br />

finally back to Roseville on the<br />

Minneapolis Diagonal Trail. Don<br />

Rd. Park behind store. We will<br />

explore the many connecting trails<br />

and bike friendly roads in the<br />

Wayzata and Long Lake area. Rest<br />

stop in Loretto. Bring lots of water<br />

and snacks. There are many options<br />

where to eat after the ride. Rain will<br />

Shingle Creek Trail and hook up with<br />

the North Hennepin Trail to Coon<br />

Rapids Dam for a short break, then<br />

head back along the Mississippi River<br />

Corridor Trail. Please park on<br />

neighborhood streets to the west and<br />

south, not in coffee shop parking lot.<br />
