Depart from Riverside Park in Menomonie, WI. Take I-94 to Menomonie, then 25 south to 29, then right on 29 across the river to the park. Little-traveled rural roads with a few challenging hills. Watch for details on TCBC "Rides and Trips" message board during the week before ride. If weather threatens, check "Ride Cancel Delay" message board at 7:00 AM or contact ride leader before 7:45 AM on morning of ride. Depart from Elm Creek Park Chalet, 12400 James Deane Parkway, Maple Grove, 55369. Starting from the Elm Creek Park Chalet, we'll head east on the North Hennepin Corridor bike trail to the Coon Rapids Dam, cross over and head south on bike trails following the Mississippi River to Webber Parkway where we'll hook up with bike trails along Victory Memorial Parkway west and south to Theodore Wirth Park. Then we'll follow the Luce Line trail west to Medicine Lake Park, north to French Regional Park and, eventually, Fish Lake Park. From there, we'll follow bike trails which lead us eventually back to our starting point. Ride is mainly on bike trails and passes through five parks, by three lakes, and the Mississippi River. Riders have the choice of a 200k, 300k/400k or 600k route. The 200k ride is a pleasant tour through Stewartville, Chatfield, Wykoff and back. The 300k continues on to Rushford and Harmony, the 400k continues to Decorah, Iowa, and the 600k goes on to Elkader, Iowa before returning to Rochester. That's .3 mi. south of Hwy. 13 on 8th Ave. W. Go to the gravel lot by the lake. The spine of this ride will be a 33 mile trip to Bayfield with many fine views of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands. We'll climb high above town through the apple orchards there and then descend for a visit to Main Street. Optional spurs will include a ferry ride ($18) to Madeline Island and a 14 mile toot out to Big Bay Park or a 22 mile jaunt to Little Sand Bay, a part of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Depart from Brackett Park, 2728 39th Avenue South, Minneapolis. Park at intersection of East 28th Street and 39th Avenue South. Just south of Greenway at 39th Avenue. This is a very special ride to dedicate a bench in honor of Herb Schultz. All three levels B, B/C and C rides will start in Brackett Park at 10:00 AM and then stop at the bench for the dedication at 12:30 and return to Brackett Park for a picnic at 1:00 PM. Your RSVP is needed for the picnic by June 21. E-mail HerbPicnicRSVP@bikeTCBC.org and leave your name(s). The cost will be $5.00 per person payable at the picnic. While rides may be cancelled in the event of lots of rain, the picnic will go on in any case, with the dedication and food in the Brackett Park Shelter at 1:00. We will ride up Lexington to Rice Creek Regional Trail Park in Shoreview. After passing through the park we will follow the trail through the old Army Ammunition Plant. After a break at McDonalds in Mounds View for the leader's senior coffee we will ride the Rice Creek Regional West Trail and finally make our way back past Long Lake, Valentine Lake and Lake Johanna. And there's an opportunity to enjoy all three of them at the 30th Annual Watermelon Ride, on Sunday, July 4th. It's a fun and sociable family ride - with route options of 15, 25, and 55 miles - followed by an excellent Fourth of July picnic at Snail Lake in Shoreview. Beautiful, expressive lakes provide an extraordinary backdrop for the Water Carnival Bike Ride. Come for the day or weekend to enjoy the bike ride and so much more! Just a stone’s throw from the metro, Hutchinson is the starting point for 20-mile and 65-mile rides that celebrate the Land of 10,000 Lakes. The 20-mile ride can be fun for all ages and skill levels. This ride travels outside Hutchinson into the lake country a short distance, turns back to town, and includes a ride along the Crow River on the Luce Line Trail. The 65-mile ride, though relatively flat, travels much farther through the lake country and passes thru the towns of Dassel and Litchfield before returning back to Hutchinson and also riding along the Crow River on the Luce Line Trail. Showers are available back at the Hutchinson Middle School, if you choose to change and enjoy a potpourri of fun events in town. OUTREACH RIDE Minnesota's Hometown Come ride with the President Water Carnival Bike Ride Hutchinson, MN – June 18 Water Carnival includes a food fest, farmers market, concerts, carnival midway, water ski show, sporting competitions, a Queen’s dance, parades, fireworks and, of course, an awesome bike ride! Chances are, Hutchinson’s Water Carnival will become a favorite summer tradition. Good time! Good deal! Good cause! Proceeds from the Water Carnival Bike Ride go to Rotary’s local and international projects. While enjoying a picturesque ride through Minnesota lake country, you’re helping to promote literacy, eradicate polio, and provide clean water in places where they don’t have any. How cool is that? Come join TCBC on the 65-mile loop. We will be meeting at the Middle School at 9:00. The 65 mile loop is a TCBC Outreach Ride.
