ON THE SPOT INTER-SCHOOL ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION<br />
‘The pen is mightier than the sword.' Writing is the best medium of self expression. Two students, Mokshneel Kaul of V-B<br />
and Damini Yadav of VIII-C of our school got the opportunity to put forth their perceptions in the annual 'On the Spot Inter-<br />
School Essay Writing Competition' organized by HT PACE in association with the National Museum of Natural History on 9<br />
November 2012. They participated in the Junior and Senior Category respectively. The topic for the Junior Category was<br />
'Save, Protect and Preserve for a Cleaner, Better and Healthier Future' and the topic for the Senior Category was 'The Joy<br />
of Life lies in Nature's Beauty, to Preserve it is our Sacred Duty'. The students were enthralled on hearing the topics. After<br />
the competition ended, the two students along with their teacher Ms. Jyoti Gulati explored the museum and had a good<br />
time learning new facts.<br />
SPIC MACAY PROGRAMME<br />
Under the aegis of SPIC MACAY, our school<br />
organised an Odissi Dance Recital by<br />
Ms.Arushi Mudgal on 24 September 2012 in the<br />
school auditorium. A Society for the Promotion<br />
of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst<br />
Youth - SPIC MACAY is India's largest<br />
voluntary non-profit movement founded in the<br />
year 1997 by Dr.Kiran Seth. Through focus on<br />
the classical arts, SPIC MACAY seeks to<br />
facilitate an awareness of their deeper and<br />
subtle meaning and values to students. The<br />
mesmerising performance by Ms. Arushi<br />
Mudgal in the form of lecture-demonstration<br />
was an eye - opener for the students as well as<br />
the teachers. Ms.Arushi Mudgal, a recipient of<br />
the Indian President's Bal Shree Award in 2002<br />
explained to the students the intricacies of the<br />
Odissi dance. The students were completely<br />
engrossed and spell-bound by her<br />
performance.<br />
PLANETARIUM SHOW IN SCHOOL<br />
In its continuous effort<br />
to make learning fun<br />
and enjoyable, our<br />
school organised a<br />
Planetarium Show on<br />
8 and 9 October<br />
2012.A portable<br />
dome- shaped<br />
projection screen onto<br />
which the planets and<br />
other heavenly bodies<br />
were made to move to<br />
simulate their<br />
complex motions was<br />
erected in the school<br />
courtyard which made<br />
our little children very<br />
curious .Students of<br />
classes I-V also saw<br />
different animated<br />
videos related to the<br />
universe. Students<br />

were shown videos<br />
like ‘Puppy on the Moon’and ‘Journey to Wonderlands’. Each show lasted for 45-50minutes. After the show, a short quiz<br />
was conducted to assess the students' understanding. The winners were given space cards and story books as prizes.<br />
Each show was customised keeping in mind the acumen of children. Each participant got a booklet related to the show.<br />
This show definitely helped our students to relate their knowledge with the real sky.<br />
