'Vedic Mathematics' is the name given to the ancient system of mathematics or to be precise, a unique technique of
calculations based on simple rules and principles, with which any mathematical problem - be it arithmetic, algebra,
geometry or trigonometry - can be solved mentally. For many students, the most feared subject is Mathematics. Well to
those, who find Mathematics a scare, they should go for Vedic Mathematics. Some of the most complicated problems can
be solved without holding a pen and a paper. Stuff like square root, cube root and fifth root can be resolved with simple
concepts. Keeping in mind these advantages of Vedic Maths, our school organized a Vedic Maths workshop for the
students of class XI. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Rajesh Mishra from IMS Learning Resources Pvt. Ltd .The
workshop highlighted the need of Vedic mathematics in competitive as well as curriculum examinations. The students
learnt simple mathematical tricks for calculating the squares of numbers, product of two numbers and the square root and
cube root of numbers. The students also learnt how to multiply two and three digit numbers within a few seconds. A small
test was also conducted to check the speed and accuracy of the students in basic calculation areas. The students were
also made aware of the various career options available to them after completing their class XII. All in all, it was a fun and
informative workshop.
