Artist: FRANKY.<br />

Student: Thank you. Are you from India?<br />

Artist: No, I am from Tanzania, South Africa.<br />

Student: For how long have you been working as a gymnast?<br />

Artist: Five years.<br />

Student: Why did you opt for gymnastics?<br />

Artist: I love gymnastics. It is my passion since childhood. I used to practice with the street boys and worked hard on my<br />

hobby. I took no special training.<br />

Student: At what age did you start working in the circus shows?<br />

Artist: At the age of nineteen years.<br />

Student: Is it your part time job or a full time profession?<br />

Artist: A full time profession.<br />

Student: Do you get enough salary to fulfill the basic needs of your family?<br />

Artist: Our salary depends on the quality of our work and the number of spectators. Hence, our salary ranges from<br />

audience to audience.<br />

Student: How many hours do you practice daily?<br />

Artist: 3-4 hours every morning.<br />

Student: Don't you think this performing art is dying out with time?<br />

Artist: To some extent yes! There are still such people who like watching these live shows, but the number is declining<br />

slowly. Of course there is less recognition.<br />

Student: Where do you belong to?(another artist)<br />

Artist: I belong to Nepal.<br />

Student: At what age did you start your profession?<br />

Artist: I was nine years old when I started practicing. Even my parents were involved in it, therefore, I had to come here.<br />

Student: Do you think the money you get is sufficient?<br />

Artist: Yes, it is sufficient for my livelihood.<br />

Student: What are your views about this profession?<br />

Artist: Not many people are interested in joining it. But yes, we are doing efforts to improve it so that more and more<br />

people can come and enjoy circus.<br />

CELEBRA TIONS<br />

DUSSEHRA AND DIW ALI CELEBRA TED<br />

The students of class IV of our school enacted the Ramayana during the Dussehra and Diwali celebrations in the school.<br />

Around 120 students of class IV presented an English adaptation of the epic Ramayana with a lot of excitement and<br />

enthusiasm. An hour long show was put in front of the primary students of the school with the motive of making them aware of<br />

the importance and significance of two important festivals of our country –Dussehra and Diwali.It was a step taken to bring<br />

the students closer to the varied culture of the country.<br />

The play showed the important parts of the ancient Sanskrit epic,the Ramayana .The play began with the Hindu sage<br />

Valmiki, who penned down the epic ,being portrayed as the narrator of the play.The play took the students through a journey<br />

in history from the time when Lord Rama got married to Sita to the victorious return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after fourteen<br />

years of exile. The play also incorporated two dances,one –a classical Indian dance-the Bharatnatyam,shown in Ravana's<br />

courtroom and the second being the 'Diya Dance' portraying happiness and celebration after the victory of good over evil.<br />
