PAGE 12 MEDIA CLUB ACTIVITIES Life Media Club of our school drafted a newspaper in the month of September 2012. The students had put in a lot of hard work and creative efforts to gather information about national and international news. Moreover, activities conducted in our school were mentioned in the newspaper. An effort was made to enhance the knowledge of our students about technology, health and literature. In the month of October 2012, the student members made posters on burning issues like girl child and corruption. They depicted the courage shown by Malala, the Pakistani teenager and also depicted the controversy involving Arvind Kejriwal and Robert Vadra. Efforts were made to sensitize the students and create awareness regarding corruption and the poor condition of girl child in our society. The students of LIFE MEDIA CLUB did myriad activities in November. They did sample surveys to better understand the variety of products that float in the market and how their ads affect the masses. They also closely monitored the brand placements that are there in the serials and saw how they impact the viewers. The students also made a questionnaire to check the memory of the people surveyed to reveal the effect of the ads that are endorsed by big names- be it a sportsperson or an actor. The whole activity was entertaining ,educative and informative .It definitely added to the knowledge and confidence of the students. Creating awareness regarding the present day state of affairs are the students of Life Media Club. EACH ONE TEACH ONE 11 November, the birthday of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, is observed every year as the National Education Day. He was an eminent educationist, a great freedom fighter and the first Union Minister of Education of our country. On this day, the students of class X and XI of our school reaffirmed their commitment towards education by becoming a part of the "Each-One-Teach-One Programme" by interacting with the illiterate adults working as sweepers in the school. The excitement and joy was evident on the faces of the students and the school sweepers. The students interacted with their 'adult' students very politely and patiently, teaching them the basic Number System and English alphabets. Some of the sweepers were able to write 3-letter words and even their name in English. The effort made by the students towards eradicating illiteracy was quite successful as many of the sweepers showed inclination and interest when taught basic mathematical operations and English words. The students had a wonderful and unforgettable experience, and will continue their Spreading literacy and happiness- our young and responsible citizens. efforts of spreading literacy in the near future.
PAGE 13 SPORTS DAY “The will must be stronger than the skill.” The very spirit of sportsmanship enables the young athletes of our school to put in their best effort in the field. Sports and games are means of mental and physical growth. During sports we come to learn many things. We learn how to maintain our mental balance in the midst of hope and despair. They make us learn how to tackle a difficult situation. Sports also develop a sense of friendliness. The Annual Sports meet held in our school encouraged many students to build up their interest in games. It was declared open by our Principal, Ms. Sheena Kalenga and our Vice Principal, Ms. Sabina Shergill on 26 November 2012 and 30 November 2012 for juniors and seniors respectively. The enthusiastic athletes participated in the track and field events such as 100m flat race, 400m relay race, lemon 'n' spoon race, etc. and games such as badminton, football, lawn tennis, etc. These games explained students the concept of teamwork, as teamwork and unselfishness create the backbone of a great team, without them a team cannot realistically compete. The cheerful audience, the efficient faculty, the able volunteers and a variety of sports made the event a great success. Gandhi house bagged the first position, Nehru house stood the second, while Patel house bagged the third position. Our Principal, Ms. Sheena Kalenga and Vice Principal, Ms. Sabina Shergill bestowed the medals to the winners. The following were the winners of the Annual Sports meet 2012-13.
