Section B:<br />

Proposed Approach (35 points)<br />

• Describe the purpose of the proposed project, including its goals and objectives.<br />

These must relate to the intent of the <strong>RFA</strong> and performance measures you<br />

identify in Section D, Data Collection and Performance Assessment.<br />

• Describe the proposed project activities, how they will meet the needs of the<br />

technical assistance recipients, including sub populations if relevant, and how<br />

they relate to your proposed goals and objectives.<br />

• Describe the vision for the youth violence prevention and mental health<br />

promotion resource center and the role it will play in advancing youth violence<br />

prevention and mental health promotion activities throughout the nation.<br />

Describe how the center will serve as a resource for multidisciplinary and cross<br />

cutting prevention and mental health promotion policy and program information.<br />

Describe how the center will be a resource for diverse racial and ethnic minority<br />

communities.<br />

• Describe how the proposed activities will be implemented and how adherence to<br />

the appropriate CLAS in Health and Health Care will be monitored. For<br />

• Describe how assistance and guidance will be provided to states, communities,<br />

and organizations with identifying, accessing, and utilizing opportunities available<br />

through the Affordable Care Act.<br />

• Describe how assistance will be provided to states/tribes and communities to<br />

integrate educational and community-based programs and strategies for children,<br />

youth, and families.<br />

• Demonstrate familiarity with SAMHSA’s mission and with state-of-the-art<br />

strategies and practices in mental health/substance abuse treatment, prevention,<br />

and recovery technology transfer principles, strategies, and activities.<br />

• Describe the plans for providing technical assistance to the SAMHSA SS/HS<br />

State Program and the Project LAUNCH grant programs.<br />

• Describe how communication and social marketing technical assistance will be<br />

provided to grantees, states/tribes, and communities in their messaging related<br />

to youth violence prevention, mental illness and substance use prevention, and<br />

mental health promotion.<br />

• For Year 1, describe how you will develop, implement, and manage the SS/HS<br />

Mentoring Alumni program. Applicants should include the following:<br />

o The process for recruiting current and former SS/HS grantees to be<br />

mentors.<br />
