EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Center for Mental Health Services is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2013 National Resource Center for Mental Health Promotion and Youth Violence Prevention (YVP-RC) cooperative agreement. The purpose of this jointly funded program is to serve as a national resource and training center to increase the effectiveness of youth violence prevention, prevention of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders, and promotion of the healthy development of children and youth. The YVP-RC will also provide technical assistance for SAMHSA’s Safe Schools/Healthy Students (SS/HS) and Linking Actions for Unmet Needs in Children’s Health (Project LAUNCH) grant programs. Funding for this announcement is from Youth Violence Prevention in the amount of $4.599 million (75 percent) to support the technical assistance needs of the SS/HS grants and the field in the implementation of community level partnerships among educational, behavioral health, and criminal justice systems that promote systems integration and policy change and sustainable policies, infrastructure, services, and supports. In addition, $1.572 million (25 percent) from Project LAUNCH to support the technical assistance needs of the Project LAUNCH Grantees and the field in the implementation of evidence-based practices that promote and enhance the wellness of young children by developing infrastructure and implement prevention/promotion wellness strategies necessary to promote the wellness of young children from birth to age eight.
