Condition Monitoring department of Karsten Moholt AS
receives a certification from ABS.
In March 2011, Karsten Moholt was
the first company in the world to be
certified by Det Norske Veritas (DNV)
to perform condition monitoring services
on mobile offshore units. Now,
Karsten Moholt is the first company to
be certified by two classification societies
– DNV and ABS.
In September this year, Karsten
Moholt was certified by ABS to perform
condition monitoring services
including vibration analysis, thermography
and high voltage testing.
‘This will greatly benefit our customers
in the shipping and drilling industries,
making it much easier to start
using condition based maintenance,’
says Tommy Glesnes, head of the
Condition Monitoring Department at
Karsten Moholt.
In cases where approval from a
classification society is required,
it is both easier and faster for the
customer to use a company that has
already been approved by the classification
society.
‘Many of our customers have some
ships that are classed by DNV and
others that are classed by ABS,’
says Glesnes. ‘It is therefore a great
advantage that Karsten Moholt now
can handle both. Our approval by two
classification societies also confirms
that our procedures and services are
of the highest quality.’
