of Athletics & Activities to co-coordinate the school’s co-curricular programs; coordinate student field<br />
expeditions; and establish and maintain a good rapport with youth resource providers in the Greater <strong>Madison</strong><br />
community. The Director of Family & Community Partnerships will report to the President & CEO.<br />
<strong>School</strong> Nurse<br />
The <strong>School</strong> Nurse will be responsible for maintaining and/or improving the health status of students, thus<br />
enabling them to benefit from their educational experiences, and to promote optimum health status and<br />
lifestyles for all students through joint efforts of home, school, and community. The nurse will hold at least a<br />
bachelors’ degree from an accredited nursing program; will specialize in pediatric care or have previous<br />
experience in public health or as a school nurse; and will be certified to practice in Wisconsin. Special<br />
characteristics of the school nurse position will be to conduct health screenings and respond to emergency<br />
health situations on the part of students and staff; communicate appropriately and effectively with individuals<br />
and groups regarding health care matters within the school and larger community; adapt the nursing process<br />
including nursing diagnosis to fit the health needs of <strong>Madison</strong> Prep students and personnel; foster a sense of<br />
self-responsibility for health among students and employees through individual and group health education;<br />
ensure all <strong>Madison</strong> Prep staff are certified – and maintain their certification – in CPR; and demonstrate<br />
<strong>Madison</strong> Prep’s commitment to optimal healthy lifestyles, life-long fitness, and well-being.<br />
<strong>Madison</strong> Prep will seek to partner with local health care agencies, nutritional specialists and organizations<br />
specializing in adult and youth fitness to support the school’s efforts. The <strong>School</strong> Nurse will report to the<br />
Principal.<br />
Director of Athletics & Activities<br />
The Director of Athletics and Activities (DAA) will be a full-time teacher with a physical education license.<br />
The DAA will lead the school’s youth fitness program and will partner with the Director of Family &<br />
Community Partnerships to co-coordinate the school’s co-curricular programs. They will also ensure each<br />
<strong>Madison</strong> Prep student has a combination of fun, instructional, and competitive and non-competitive age<br />
appropriate athletic experiences that foster physical skill development, personal health and wellness, a<br />
positive self-concept and self-confidence, a knowledge and understanding of sports and sports competition,<br />
and the principles of teamwork, integrity, and fair play. The DAA will ensure <strong>Madison</strong> Prep operates effective<br />
fitness and athletic programs within its budget limitations. S/he will also hire, supervise and evaluate athletic<br />
coaches and fitness trainers; plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate all athletic programs; and promote the<br />
school’s athletic talent to the local media, colleges & universities, and related partners. The DAA will possess<br />
a bachelor’s degree in an exercise science field, have completed, or commit to completing, national personal<br />
trainer certification either through reputable fitness and exercise organizations such as the National Strength<br />
& Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) (or a<br />
comparable alternative certification program), and complete a rigorous coaching education program. The<br />
Director of Athletics & Activities will report to the Director of Teaching & Learning.<br />
Athletic Coaches & Fitness Trainers<br />
Athletic Coaches and Fitness Trainers will have at least three years of experience coaching competitive sports<br />
or leading youth exercise programs. They will have already completed, or commit to completing, national<br />
personal trainer certification either through reputable fitness and exercise organizations such as the National<br />
Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) or the American College of Sports Medicine (or a comparable<br />
alternative certification program), and a rigorous coaching education and/or certification program. Athletic<br />
coaches and Fitness Trainers will report to the Director of Athletics and Activities. Both will have appropriate<br />
certifications in youth fitness, CPR and First Aid.<br />
Office Manager<br />
The Office Manager will play a central role in ensuring an orderly school. In addition to maintaining the<br />
school’s administrative systems and routines, the Office Manager will function as the primary contact person<br />
for all of the school’s constituents. Specifically, s/he will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day<br />
administrative activities of the school, managing the collection and maintenance of student, personnel, and<br />
