With <strong>the</strong> preceding setup of Oracle using <strong>the</strong> hardware level stripping, and placing Oracle<br />
objects in different tablespaces, an optimal setup was reached with no I/O waits noticed<br />
and no single disk being more than 20% occupied during <strong>the</strong> tests. Veritas was not used<br />
as this setup provided <strong>the</strong> required I/O throughput.<br />
Following is <strong>the</strong> Iostat output: two snapshots at five-sec<strong>on</strong>d intervals, taken during<br />
steady state of <strong>the</strong> test <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> database server. There are minimal reads (r/s), and<br />
writes are balanced across all volumes. With <strong>the</strong> excepti<strong>on</strong> of c7t1d0, this is <strong>the</strong><br />
dedicated T4+ array for Oracle redologs. It is quite normal to see high writes/sec <strong>on</strong><br />
redologs, this just indicates that transacti<strong>on</strong>s are getting d<strong>on</strong>e rapidly in <strong>the</strong> database.<br />
The reads/sec is abnormal. This volume is at 27% busy, which is c<strong>on</strong>sidered borderline<br />
high. Fortunately, service times are very low.<br />
