With the preceding setup of Oracle using the hardware level stripping, and placing Oracle
objects in different tablespaces, an optimal setup was reached with no I/O waits noticed
and no single disk being more than 20% occupied during the tests. Veritas was not used
as this setup provided the required I/O throughput.
Following is the Iostat output: two snapshots at five-second intervals, taken during
steady state of the test on the database server. There are minimal reads (r/s), and
writes are balanced across all volumes. With the exception of c7t1d0, this is the
dedicated T4+ array for Oracle redologs. It is quite normal to see high writes/sec on
redologs, this just indicates that transactions are getting done rapidly in the database.
The reads/sec is abnormal. This volume is at 27% busy, which is considered borderline
high. Fortunately, service times are very low.
