FROM THE DESK OF FATHER BLANEY...
Do you remember the first Valentine card you sent? I remember that it was a popularity contest in school. (We didn’t mail
them in those days.) I didn’t have enough money to buy a card for each person in the class, so I addressed the few that I could.
There were some very pretty gals! And my close chums! And one fellow who I figured would not be getting any cards. He
deserved one at least. Well, as inept as I am, I just put his first name on the envelope. Yes, there were two fellows with the same
first name. It was a bit embarrassing. But, in fact, he got a couple of cards that Valentine’s Day.
This Valentine’s Day, whether you receive 100 or no cards, be assured of my love for you. And on Valentine’s Day, you will
be remembered in prayer by the villagers and me.

special club of special people who have experienced the joy of friendship while embracing Share Foundation’s mission. It’s been

at Sharing Meadows, thanks to our friends.
Membership remains at $40 for the year and entitles you to a subscription to our newsletter, the GOOD NEWS, and enters
you in a monthly drawing for one of three restaurant gift certificates so that you can enjoy dinner out with your friends. Another
name is selected as the Hidden Winner and that person wins $40 - the cost of their membership for the year.

FLORIDA GOLF OUTING
Calling all Florida snowbirds who like to swing a golf club and socialize with a great group of people! Karen Galinowski has
joined with some friends to organize a golf outing to take place on Saturday, February 20 th at the TIDES Golf Club in Seminole,
Florida. For $60, you will enjoy a round of golf with a cart, dinner and fellowship, and all funds raised will go to Share Foundation.

THOUGHTS FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

I was listening to the radio on my drive to work the other day and the John Lennon song, “I Get by with a Little Help from
My Friends” was playing. As I listened to the lyrics, I started to think of all that I have been able to do with a “little help from my
friends.” Last summer I connected with some of my high school classmates, most of whom I had not seen for many years. It was
amazing how the conversation flowed as we shared the paths our lives have taken us and somehow the years that had passed didn’t
seem to matter. I enjoyed seeing my friends from long ago and realized that their influence helped to shape my life.
Another friend came to mind that has been there for me for most of my life and she shares my passion for working with other
abled people. We worked together for many years as catechists in the Apostolate for the Handicapped and she continues to
volunteer at camp to this day. She has encouraged and challenged me to try new ventures and grow to be the person that I am.
Another friend is more recent but certainly just as cherished as we get together each week for conversation and sharing in a bowling
league. My villager friends at Sharing Meadows have blessed me with their loyalty and unconditional love. Friendship has truly
enriched my life and made me realize that I get by with a little help from my friends.
Shortly after Christmas the stores started promoting Valentine’s Day with balloons, candy, flowers, jewelry and an assortment
of items in the shape of a heart. The retailers want us to think that we can only show our love by purchasing things but when it’s
all said and done, things don’t matter, people do. As I think of celebrating Valentine’s Day, I think of my friends and I want them
to know how much they are loved and treasured. It’s not about the prettiest roses or the biggest box of chocolates, it’s about the
people who have made a difference in our lives.
It’s no coincidence that our Friends Club membership drive takes place around Valentine’s Day. We love our friends and are
grateful for your friendship. Our wish for you this Valentine’s Day is that you always get by with a little help from your friends!
FAT TUESDAY & SPAGHETTI DINNER
On the day before Lent begins, Tuesday, February 16th
the Griffith the Knights of Columbus have a feast planned.
The Marquette Council #3631 of the Griffith Knights of
Columbus will hold their annual Spaghetti Dinner to benefit
Share Foundation starting at 4 p.m. Located at their hall just
south of downtown Griffith on Broad Street, Jim Fitt and his
fellow Knights will be preparing a delicious and filling dinner
of spaghetti, meat sauce, tossed salad, garlic bread and
homemade dessert!
Drinks are provided and adult beverages will be available
for purchase.
Although there is not a set fee for this feast, a donation
box will be available and all proceeds will benefit Share
Foundation. Please show your support of the faithful Griffith
Knights who have hosted this event each year for our benefit,
and join us for a delicious dinner before the start of Lent on

EVERYONE IS IRISH for the
ST. PATRICK’S CELEBRATION

corned beef and cabbage,

annual St. Patrick’s Day

begins with Mass at 1:00
p.m. followed by a fine meal
prepared by our own Irish
chef Fr. Blaney himself, a
contest for the best Irish joke
and some lively Irish music.
It will be a fine day for the wearing of the green!
Reservations are required. Tickets are $10 and the wee
ones under 17 are welcome for free if accompanied by their
parents or grandparents. You may pay by sending a check to
