FROM THE DESK OF FATHER BLANEY...
March 17 th is soon to be here! It is a time to truly celebrate. And after your
terrible winter, there is truly a need to celebrate. On Sunday, March 20 th at 1:00
p.m. we will celebrate first with Mass at the St. Timothy Center. It will be a joy
filled Mass with great music and a short sermon.
Then we will have a corned beef meal with all the trimmings of potatoes,
carrots, cabbage etc. Yes, the chef will again be yours truly with some
wonderful helpers. And then there will be the Best Irish Joke Contest. Three
judges will decide who will receive the first place prize of a bottle of fine Irish
whiskey! The Doolin’s will be in attendance, providing delightful Irish music in
between the jokes.
Reservations are required by March 10 th . The cost is $10 for the dinner and
children are free. I hope that the weather will cooperate. It has in the past –
must be luck of the Irish!
God bless you all! I am in sunny Florida writing this, overlooking a golf course with very green fairways that I’ll soon
be playing. God is good! And I’m very much enjoying my Chevrolet Malibu complete with Onstar that helps me find

THOUGHTS FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

One of the many social activities that take place at Sharing Meadows is a weekly trip to the bowling alley for a couple of
games. It’s always a good time with some good natured competition and lots of cheering when someone knocks all the
pins down. A few weeks ago, one of the villagers was having a difficult time keeping his arm straight and his frustration
mounted after ball after ball went into the gutter. After a few frames, one of the other villagers went up to him, gave him
a hug and loudly proclaimed, “You’re a good guy and I love you.” The very next frame, he went up to bowl, threw the
ball and while all the pins didn’t fall down, the ball stayed on the alley and most of the pins went down. The smile on his
face was like a sunbeam of light and the joy in his heart was apparent because someone believed in him.
I was reminded of this story when I saw the resources from the Indiana Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities
in celebration of March, Disabilities Awareness Month. This year’s theme is Cultivate Inclusion. The artwork on the
poster shows a diverse group of people – all ages, ethnicities and abilities – working together to plant a garden. The text
says, “Cultivate Inclusion. To help beautify your community, start by planting seeds of understanding. When you
appreciate the unique gifts inside people of all abilities, everyone grows.” Just imagine how good the world would be if
we always truly recognized and appreciated unique gifts in others.
We are so blessed at Sharing Meadows because here everyone is appreciated for who they are. A helping hand is always
there along with affirmation that we are good and loved. Our precious other abled friends have so many gifts and so much
to share. Each one brings their unique gifts to the community to make it the special place it is. While celebrating
Disabilities Awareness month is a good idea, at Sharing Meadows we celebrate our abilities every month of the year!
A PLACE TO CALL HOME THANKS TO OUR FRIENDS
Villagers Christine, David and Tim know that
dinner is more enjoyable when shared with friends.
Sharing Meadows is a place our villagers and stewards call home. They live in a
warm, comfortable home surrounded by friends. Many of us take our homes for
granted but our villagers know how precious their home is and they are grateful
to the many people – members of the Friends Club – who have helped to provide
it. Friends Club has been vital to the residential program since the beginning and
during this time of renewing memberships, we ask for your continued support.
When your membership packet arrives, please take a few minutes to join or
renew your membership in the Friends Club. While you’re at it, ask a friend to
join as well. For your $40 membership, you receive a subscription to the
newsletter and the chance each month to win one of three $100 gift certificates
to your favorite restaurant and share a meal with friends and family. If you are

WELCOME BACK FATHER BLANEY and ST. PATRICK’S DAY
Father Blaney will return from his annual Florida Odyssey just in time to
celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The festivities will begin with Father celebrating Mass
in Joseph Hall in the St. Timothy Center on Sunday, March 20 th at 1:00 p.m.
Afterwards there will be an Irish celebration with fellowship and a delicious
corned beef and cabbage meal prepared by Chef Blaney followed by traditional
Irish music and the Best Irish joke contest. A $10 fee will be charged to defer the
cost of the meal. (Children will not be charged.)

SPRING LUNCHEON
With all of the wintry weather this past month, we are
truly looking forward to the 20 th Annual Spring Luncheon
to be held this year on Wednesday, April 13 th in the Halls
of St. George, Schererville. If you would like to donate a
prize, underwrite expenses, join in planning or attending
this event that benefits the Sharing Meadows residential
program, please let Chairperson Emogene Grant know by

SUMMER CAMP PLANS
Make your summer a memorable one by spending a
week at Sharing Meadows volunteering at the summer
camp. The week-long sessions of summer camp will
begin Sunday, June 12 th and end Friday, July 22 nd . We are
looking for volunteers to serve as camp counselors,
nurses and cooks for this special group of campers who
so look forward to this wonderful experience! You are
welcome to come for a week or for each of the six
weeks! We can promise you unconditional love and an
enriching experience that you will never forget!
