FROM THE DESK OF FATHER BLANEY...
This is a new year. What does God have in line for us? There will be new births
for some – grandchildren to enjoy. There will be new jobs – hopefully. There
will be fresh starts after school. There will be new friends entering our lives and
renewal of old friends – that’s delightful. And some will be called home to
heaven and be sadly missed.
In all of this, God, our Father has His hands – loving hands – at work.
Here at Sharing Meadows we are planning on our 5 th village of three homes to
be completed in the spring of next year, 2012. That will be the last village that
we plan for at Sharing Meadows. If you have a child over the age of 21 and not
yet 50 who is mild to moderately developmentally disabled/other abled, now is
the time to apply.
May this year be full of hope and happiness!

THOUGHTS FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

As we begin a new year, I look to 2011 with hope and optimism. While the nightly news is full of gloom and doom –
home foreclosures, unemployment, war in the Middle East, and an uncertain economy with no end in sight, I see good
deeds taking place performed by good people. The media would have us believe that the world is full of selfishness
and greed but here at Sharing Meadows, we see kindness and sharing.
Our villagers reach out to each other and to visitors with unconditional love. Our stewards lovingly mentor and nurture
the villagers to be all they can be. Our wonderful volunteers are, quite simply, amazing. During the winter storms that
plagued our community during December, Skip Chapala was out early each morning plowing our roads. When we
mailed the GOOD NEWS last month, the temperature was cold and the snow was falling but our faithful volunteers
showed up to affix labels and get the newsletter ready to go to the post office. We even had two carloads of volunteers
who braved the weather and drove to Sharing Meadows from Munster! Memorial Hall in the St. Timothy Center is
sporting a fresh coat of paint and chair rail on the walls thanks to Rick Fleming who volunteers at Sharing Meadows
two days a week. Our fundraisers couldn’t take place without the hundreds of volunteers who plan and work at the
events seeing them through to a successful completion. Camp Sharing Meadows is a joyful place that gets better and
better each session thanks to the many volunteers who serve as nurses, cooks and counselors. The list of volunteers
goes on and on.
Every time we need something, a volunteer is there to lend a hand. God has truly blessed us with good people doing
good things and Sharing Meadows is a better place for it! We look forward to a New Year with joyful anticipation of
working together with our many volunteers and we thank God for their presence in our community.

SPAGHETTI DINNER
Celebrating Fat Tuesday in Griffith, IN with the Marquette
Council #3631 of the Knights of Columbus will be the best
spaghetti dinner in the region and some of our favorite people.
This enjoyable feast before the beginning of the Lenten season is
planned for Tuesday, March 8 th .
Held in the Knights of Columbus Hall, just south of downtown
Griffith on Broad Street, the Knights plan a nutritious pasta meal
with meat sauce, tossed salad, garlic bread and delicious
homemade desserts. A donation box will be set up for free will
offerings to benefit Share Foundation. Please come, enjoy and
support the programs at Sharing Meadows.

SPRING LUNCHEON
Father Blaney visits with some Luncheon guests

The Service League, under the direction of Emogene Grant, is at work planning the Spring Luncheon, an incredible
annual affair held at the Halls of St. George in Schererville. Hundreds of loyal supporters have attended in past years
with extended families and friends around tables of ten lovingly decorated for the spring season. There will be
delicious food, fabulous door prizes, and much fun for all.
